On Halloween, some states take extra safety measures to keep sex offenders away from kids

As people stock up on Halloween candy, some cities and states are imposing extra measures to make sure sex offenders don’t answer when little ghouls and goblins knock on their doors.

In several states, including Georgia and California, some supervised sex offenders are not allowed to have contact with kids under 18. With that in mind, law enforcement agencies are taking steps on Halloween to ensure sex offenders don’t come near trick-or-treaters.

“I don’t let my kids roam the neighborhood alone on Halloween for many reasons,” said Abony Wilkins of Indianapolis. “I feel a little better knowing that sex offenders are under watch that day. Once you’ve robbed a child of their innocence, I have no concerns for your feelings as an individual.”

Here’s what some states and jurisdictions are doing.

Critics have called some such measures invasive and a scare tactic, saying data show the vast majority of sex crimes against children are committed by family members or acquaintances – not strangers. More than 90% of child victims know their offender, according to statistics cited by the California Department of Justice.

And there is no evidence that offenders target kids more on Halloween than on other days.

But law enforcement agencies are erring on the side of caution.

They are so busy watching us they will miss the drug dealers, mass shooters and DUIs. Good to know that priorities are in line with actual danger………😵‍💫

Every damn year…the same….!!!

Once again, the worst night of the year to be a PFR. Not that the other 364 days on the year are a picnic, but this is the worst part of the year. Every year the Nation looses it collective mind. Panicky idiocy runs rampant, and…let’s just hope nobody gets hurt this year.

“Once you’ve robbed a child of their innocence, I have no concerns for your feelings as an individual.”

This says it all. What about the people that didn’t do that? Do their feelings also not matter? What about people who got registered for convictions that in no way involved a child, not even a picture of one? Still nothing? Public urination? Nada? Hmmm…guess it’s lucky for you that people are willing to treat you better than you treat them.

On that note, I sure hope you don’t get some kind of flesh rotting condition…that would be hoooooorrrrrible!!! Or maybe ripped to pieces by wild animals…that would be tragic.

What? Sarcasm? What makes you think that was sarcasm?

Nothing sells better to the masses a false sense of security from law enforcement than being protected from sex offenders on Halloween.

Cops can’t protect kids from being run over from drunk drivers or keep them from getting hooked on drugs by dealers which are the real problems. Cops for sure in the past couldn’t protect kids then, now, and tomorrow from the newest mass shooter of the week. So, what could cops protect kids from these days?

Ah – society’s scapegoat – sex offenders. The cops for sure could protect our kids from those bogeymen- just like throwing a pinch of salt over your left shoulder will cancel out bad luck. It doesn’t really work – and it won’t for sure protect kids from the predatory adults already in touching distance because they are not on the Registry – but hey, it will make you feel better, right?

Superstition is still society’s opiate. And politicians and law enforcement are the dealers.

I love how Operation Boo points out that only 20% of victims are assaulted by strangers and then points out not all people on that list are dangerous or on the list for crimes against children.

Maybe we just need to do an audit of what the analytics are for Megan’s law and associated websites. I would bet anything that they are low until a story pops up or Halloween.

This should be in bold italic letters to draw the reader in because it more truthful then the rest of the clown news network story…

She really did say they quiet part out loud!

It’s all about hate and resentment.

“I feel a little better knowing that sex offenders are under watch that day. Once you’ve robbed a child of their innocence, I have no concerns for your feelings as an individual.”

I robbed a child of their innocence by urinating in front of their junior high? Or talking dirty to a cop online?

Lady, please!!

I see in Milwaukee that they did their Halloween sweep. Didn’t hear about any violations. But they did report that a woman and an infant child were hit by a car, and the car took off and is still being searched for. So tell me, do you think it was a drunk driver? I’m guessing it was.

It does not say if she is a present registrant but I am sure they checked that out and if she was they would certainly would have mentioned it. I wonder how this title would read if it was a man who did this?
